America's Service Station History
SRSANDCO, LLC dba America's Service Station in the metro Atlanta area, was formed by Greg &Sherri Sands to develop and operate full service automotive repair facilities. The goal of America's Service Station is to be the very best auto service company in the United States. The company began operating in May 2001 with the acquisition of four stores from Greg's former employer JTCO INC. As of December 2007, the company has 10 stores with additional locations scheduled to open in 2008, including expansion into Colorado. Eight stores are joint ventures with owner/operators. The owner/operator program was created in order to increase the quality of customer service and decrease employee turn over.
The Joint venture stores are generally operated in the following manner: SRSANDCO selects new high-potential undeveloped sites, arranges for the construction and leasing of repair centers on such sites, and then opens and operates such new centers itself for a period of time (generally less than a year), prior to contributing such store to a joint venture.
The results speak for themselves. The joint venture partners are managing the stores at or above expectations, producing customer satisfaction above 95% with only a third of the turnover of a normal industry store. The company expects that most of its continued expansion will be executed according to this joint venture. SRSANDCO is led by Greg Sands whose career in automotive began in 1993 as a manager for JTCO INC. JTCO, dba Mobile Car Care in Houston, operated only two stores when Greg arrived. Greg rose to become president and part owner of JTCO, and helped grow the company to 38 locations in four major metropolitan areas. Greg left JTCO in 2001 to go out on his own, with the formation of wholly owned SRSANDCO. Greg and Sherri Sands live in Atlanta and are very involved in day-to-day operations.
